2008 End of season prizes
At the club AGM on Tuesday, May 27 a number of prizes were handed out.
Willie Lipp was awarded The Fleming Trophy for the most improved young player under-21. The Scotland under-20 cap has steadily improved over his two years at the club since arriving from Ellon.
His performances this season at No.8 and in the second-row, where he formed a formidable partnership with Torrie Callander, were superb.
First XV captain Kyle Traynor won The Allan McNish Junior Trophy for effort, attitude and ability.
The prop took over as skipper when Will Rowley was injured and led by example with some top class showings. Has now earned a pro contract with Edinburgh and the club wish him well.
Rohan Steyl, the flying South African, was top try scorer for the first XV with 19 tries and won The Carmichael Trophy.
Guy Hills bounced back from injury to put in some fine displays in the King of the Sevens. He was awarded The Fuzz Murray Memorial Trophy.
Second XV prop Eddie Crawford was given the Alistair Nimmo Trophy for he most outstanding young former pupil of George Watson’s.
Finally, outgoing first XV coach Cammy Mather was given the I A L Hogg Trophy for service to the club. Well deserved.
