Another tough weekend for the ladies
Watsonians Ladies 5 RHC Ladies 37
For the second Sunday in a row Watsonians Ladies put in a great effort against one of the country’s top two sides only to come away with nothing.
Seven days after losing 17-7 at Murrayfield Wanderers the Myresiders took on RHC at home and the visitors got off to a flying start thanks to an unconverted try in the early moments.
Watsonians fought back though and gave as good as they got during the rest of the half. Their hard work was rewarded when Clare Murray managed to score a try and the side’s were tied at 5-5.
Before the break there was time for Scotland’s most capped player Donna Kennedy to get sin-binned for a late tackle on Emma Evans.
RHC, despite having one less player, started the second half strongly and that set the tone for the rest of the match. Their forwards began to get the upper hand and they used the wind to their advantage by kicking over Watsonians heads and pinning them n their own half.
‘Sonians defended well but could not keep RHC out and the visitors ran in a few nice tries.
The home side will be disappointed with their second half performance, making too many basic errors to compete, but the unit is growing all the time and playing with superb intensity and spirit. They will look to get back to winning ways on Sunday, October 28 against Hillhead/Jordanhill at Myreside.
