Joy for GWC under 15, disappointment for under 18
Congratulations to the GWC under-15 team who won the Bell Lawrie Scottish Schools Cup at Murrayfield on Friday night.
Cheered on by a large crowd at the national stadium the youngsters beat their counterparts from George Heriot’s 7-5 in a tight match. GWC’s points came from a try by hooker Ben Griffin, who was later named man of the match, and a conversion by winger Adam Watt in the first half.
Heriot’s fought back after the break through an unconverted try by centre Todd Tukalo, but GWC held on despite a late onslaught to clinch the cup for the second season in a row.
Well done to Coaches Iain Brown, Ally Donaldson and all their players.

=====================
GWC’s under-18 side were defeated in the Bell Lawrie Scottish Schools Cup final at Murrayfield on Friday night.
The team put up a valiant effort against Merchiston Castle, but may rue missed chances prior to the break.
At half time the score was 3-3, GWC’s points coming from a penalty from stand-off Jamie Forbes. After that kick GWC were in the ascendancy for the rest of the half, but could not turn possession into points and they were made to pay.
Two sloppy tries were given away after the break as Merchiston ran out 15-3 winners, but the great thing about this GWC side is that many of them will be back to try again next year given how young they are and they will only learn from this experience.
Congratulations to coaches Andrew Ker, Andy Barnett and their players on making it to the final.
