The Ed. managed to convince Euan Robertson to provide this week's match report for the 2nd XV. Always an enigmatic player himself, Euan takes a similarly novel approach to his report by systematically scoring his team mates' performances. With Christmas looming, will everybody be a winner?

Stavies army back on track!!

The second XV got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comprehensive victory over are Edinburgh rivals Heriot's at Myreside 20-5.
The team for the game was still uncertain almost up until KO with 1st XV star Craig Sorbie only being informed that he was to be playing for us at 1:30. However rather than let him sit on the bench Robbie Buchan dropped himself to the bench and allowed him to start at 13 (this just goes to show how much of a team spirit there currently is in the team)
Saturday also so the return of one of last year title winning side. Scott Kennedy has decided that he had pulled all of the good looking women in Newcastle and it was time that he returned home to see if there was any fresh talent. Newcastle's loss is our gain, welcome back.

The game was played at a pace not seen in the league so far this year. Both teams look to be well drilled and highly capable of playing flowing attacking rugby. However it became clear very early on one team came to play rugby, one team came to see how far they could push the ref.
To this end the game was in part full of flowing expansive rugby, interrupted countless times by penalty after penalty. Not one yellow /red card was handed out during the game, maybe it would have been needed.
To be honest however, I was running the line for the majority of the game, I have no idea of the order of the tries / penalties etc that were scored so as I have given the final score at the top of the report and had my rant about our friendly opposition, I thought I would go thought the team one by one adding my comments beside each one, this way nobody gets left out (that is apart from the Bench as not one of us got on the pitch??? !!!!)
15) J Wood: Sold under the high ball, always a threat in open play
14) R J Tweedie: Always looking for work, and took the ball well into contact all day
13) C Sorbie: After the disappointment of being dropped, picked himself up well and made some telling line breaks
12) N A Tweedie: Our very own wrecking ball, was everywhere, and led the line
11) G Dempsey: Continues to amaze us with his blistering speed, had his man in his back pocket for most of the game
10) S E Kennedy: Typical performance from the man, some brilliant and some so different that I don't even think he knew what he was doing
9) E Howe: Worked well all day with his new No Ten and Number 8 pushing hard for a re-call to the first XV
This is where I will begin to struggle in the dark arts of the forwards, a place I have seldom ventured, however hear goes
8) G Hills: What more can you say about this man, puts his body on the line in every game, another outstanding performance from our leader of men.
7) S T Paulo: A man that can play any position on the pitch but looked at home in the hard hitting game
6) I Cordell: Did well to recover from a potentially career ending tackle, won us countless turnover ball
5) J M Fuforth: An unsung hero in the "house" does his job week in week out, a tireless work horse
4) A J Wright: A dominant figure in the line out, and excellent ball carrier in the loose, enjoyed the physical battle
And this is where I will really struggle
3) D Moussa: Took it to the his opposition all day and never took a backward step
2) N R Malloy: Hit his jumpers all day, and acted like a 4th back row member
1) E S Crawford: Performed outstandingly well for his young years, and looks to be a real prospect
However the man of the match report goes to the bench!!!! of which only one got on, however if they had not turned up we could not have played, Thanks from all the team
