Watsonians count themselves lucky against Stirling
Stirling County 19 Watsonians 20
Watsonians moved up to third place in the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership Division One table on Saturday after a hard fought 20-19 win over Stirling County at Bridgehaugh.
'Sonians have now won three matches in a row since the home loss against Melrose at the start of October. At the weekend centre Doug Brown was the hero, scoring two tries, with the rest of the points coming from the boot of stand-off Andrew Skeen.
Hooker Steve Lawrie made his first appearance of the season from the bench - last season’s skipper being released from Edinburgh to play - while second-row Bradley Mitchell made his debut for the club, also off the bench.
The view of the supporters who had been through at the game seemed to be that the side were quite lucky to win, County twice knocking on when it looked like a try was going to be scored, but they were happy with the commitment shown to hang onto the win.
This coming Saturday Ian Barnes and Edinburgh Accies are the visitors to Myreside. The men from Raeburn Place are likely to have ex-'Sonians back Matt "Jesus" Coupar in their ranks. Get down and support the boys.
