Watsonians get ready for the cameras against Accies
Ace reporter Gary Heatly is on hand to provide one of his insightful reports:
Watsonians 38 Edinburgh Accies 22
Watsonians produced one of their best performances of the year at Myreside on Saturday to defeat Edinburgh Accies and keep the good run of results going.
Hooker Steve Lawrie started this week in place of Gregor Wood, while Bradley Mitchell started in the second-row with Jeff Nicolson moving down to the Seconds. In the back-row Bernie Hennessey and Josh Abraham replaced Willie Lipp and Jonny Pelter with both being on the bench.
In the backs Andrew Skeen moved to full-back and Mike Ker slotted in at stand-off. There was also a welcome return to top team action for Craig Sorbie who is just coming back after injury and a couple of games for the seconds.
Ker got the game off to the perfect start against Accies with a try after four minutes and centre Dougie Brown and winger Rohan Steyl both scored superb tries before the break. Brown's try saw the team put together a great spell of handling while speedy South African Steyl ran nearly the length of the pitch to touch down.
Accies hung in though and tries from ex-'Sonian Matt Coupar and David Rattray helped them to trail byjust five points at the interval.
Half time - Watsonians 17 Edinburgh Accies 12
After the break 'Sonians upped the tempo and Skeen, one of the team's best performers this season, scored a try. Skipper Will Rowley and centre Mala Mailo also crossed to secure the bonus point win while Skeen goaled three further conversions.
Young talent Chris Kinloch, who was in Singapore with Rugby Ecosse last week, scored late on for the visitors but no points headed back to Stockbridge.
This coming Saturday Heriot's come to Myreside after a fine win over Stirling County at Goldenacre this past weekend. With the game being muted as the first to be filmed for STV's new Sunday night highlights programme the side has a chance to show off in front of the cameras and keep up the title chase.

PS - New discount cards for certain fine drinking establishments were handed out in the bar after the game to all club members by new secretary Barb Gillie and club captain Bad 'James McAinsh' Boy, causing much excitement.
It was good to see the cards being used to good effect by players from all XVs, who all won on Saturday, as well as members later in the evening. The clubhouse was busy after the game too with a lot of 'banter' flying around. Long may it continue.
