Watsonians tighten their hold on the Second place of the league
Heriot’s 22 Watsonians 31
Watsonians recorded a good win at Goldenacre on Saturday to all but secure second place in the Scottish Hydro Electric Premiership Division One table.
The result was all but tied up by half time with four tries coming in the opening 40 minutes for Cammy Mather’s visitors.
Flying South African winger Rohan Steyl scored two, back-row Josh Abraham one and returning winger Ally Rowe one. Stand-off Scott Kennedy knocked over the four conversions and it was 28-3 at the break.
Heriot’s fought back in the second period, but Kennedy kicked a penalty and ‘Sonians held on to win 31-22. However, the slackness showed by the team in the second half was not missed by Mather who dished out a few choice words at the final whistle.
Nevertheless, a good result against our old rivals ahead of two big home matches against Hawick in the league on Saturday and Biggar in the cup on Saturday, April 5.
Please get down to both matches to support the team.
