Head coach’s thoughts on the Meggetland Tournament

Watsonians head coach Steve Lawrie is looking forward to seeing his team in action in Saturday’s Boroughmuir pre-season tournament.

A number of new faces have come into the squad this summer and 30 players are set to get a run out in the round-robin event where matches will last 30 minutes.

Boroughmuir, Currie and Edinburgh Accies are the other clubs involved while there will be a BBQ on the go and the bar will be open so it will be a great chance to see how the first XV are shaping up for 2017/18.

Lawrie said:  “Pre-season training has been going well and we have had good numbers down so I will be taking a squad of 30 to Meggetland to reward the guys for their hard work to date.

“The new guys that we have brought in have fitted in well to the good group that was already here, but now with matches coming up we can start to look at different combinations and the players in a more competitive environment ahead of next week’s trip down south.”
