Last four at Jed

WFC's first VII ended the season with a semi-final showing at the Jed Sevens on Saturday.

In the first round at Riverside Park they saw off Gala 24-10, Grant Somerville grabbing a double along with tries from GWC schoolboy Jack Ferguson and Max Learmonth.

The last eight brought a meeting with Hawick and they were beaten 31-19, Learmonth, Jamie Forbes and Ferguson amongst the try scorers.

In the semi against Selkirk two tries from Richard Minto, pictured, and one from Forbes put 'Sonians 21-0 up before they ran out of gas. Selkirk eventually fought back to win 31-26, with Melrose taking the overall Kings of the Sevens trophy and the Jed event.
