Scotland under-20s made sure of automatic qualification for next summer’s IRB World Championships in Italy with a second win over Tonga in this year’s event.
The Scots beat Tonga in the group stages in Argentina a few days ago and did so again on Thursday in the knock-out stages. Tries from Captain Stuart McInally, hooker Alun Walker and replacement Michael Tait as well as good kicking from stand-off Duncan Weir saw them to a 28-8 victory in Paraná.
The result means the youngsters will now take on Ireland on Monday for ninth and 10th place. Last year in Japan the under-20s finished ninth.
